Word Of Life Independent Church

Word of Life Independent Church WELCOMES YOU!

Our worship is based upon the Bible.  This page will give you some insight about our church and help you understand the Scriptural pattern of our worship.

Why do we stand to sing?

"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and to the Lamb" (Rev 7:9-10)

Why do we lift our hands?

"Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord" (Psalm 134:2)

Why do we have audible praise?

"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name" (Psalm 103 :1)

Why do we pray in tongues and in English?

"For if I pray in an unknown, my sprit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the Sprit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the Sprit, and I will sing with the understanding also" (1 Cor 14:14-15)

What is prophecy?

"... the Lord hath spoken, who can but prophesy?" (Amos 3:8)

Why do we prophesy?

"Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy" (1 Cor 14:1)

Why do we have speaking with tongues and interpretation of those tongues in the church?

"But the manifestation of the Sprit is given to every man to profit withal... to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues" (1 Cor 12:7, 10)

Why does the whole church pray at once for specific needs?

"And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth..." (Acts 4:24)

SOME SCRIPTURAL TERMINOLOGY

"But the anointing which you have received of Him abideth in you,... (1 John 2:27)

To Minister: To serve or help another by the anointing of the Holy Sprit.

"...but our sufficiency is of God; who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament;... (2 Cor 3:5-6)

The Glory: The manifestation of God's presence and the splendor to the spiritual and physical faculties of man.

"And it came to pass...that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister...for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord"(1 Kings 8:10-11)
